PIXELS [SM-PX1612], 2016, CASSETTE - BUY
PIXELS is the third album by the band PIXELS. The album was recorded in large part at EYELAND by Ben Knox Miller. Overdubs, mixing, and additional recording was done at subModern Audio on Dike Street. This album, decidedly hi-fi compared to it's predecessors, captures the band after several lineup changes. The seasoned drumming by CHRIS FAULKNER is a stark contrast to the minimalist sound by MELBA on earlier records. For the first time, bass guitar appears on a PIXELS record, played by IZ DUNGAN. |

TERMINAL [SM-PX1406], 2014, CASSETTE [OUT OF PRINT], CD [OUT OF PRINT], DIGITAL - BUY
A departure from L.H.O.O.Q., TERMINAL took a more studied approach to documenting the band. The album was conceived
as a concept album that would document the band, not only their songs, but the sounds of their apartment and home life. During the recording, they played with the TV on at all times,
allowing the random music and quotes that made it to the final edit to become part of the composition. The openeing track, an instrumental arrangement of the song SYLVIA was recorded at the COLUMBUS Theatre using
the grand piano and organ. FLORENCE WALLIS provided narration, reciting a slightly modified quote from Rousseau's confessions over the music. At the end of the album she return to read the liner notes over a recording of Andy playing Erik Satie's Gnossienne No. 1. TERMINAL was the first PIXELS recording to feature LAWRENCE STUMPF, who plays hand percussion and guitar on the record. |

L.H.O.O.Q. (DELUXE) [SM-PX1309], 2013, CASSETTE [OUT OF PRINT], DIGITAL BUY
The debut album by PIXELS was recorded in just one day in their apartment on Chaffee Street in Providence,
Rhode Island. This album was performed by the original line-up of the band, featuring ADAM SOUZA on synthesizer and MELBA CANTWELL on drums. All the music was played live and recorded using a TASCAM 388 8 track 1/4" tape machine. The vocals
were overdubbed by Andy after the rest of the band went home. Mixing was performed quickly by Andy, straight to DAT and sold at
shows on cassette and CDr. For a while a version of this album was sold on cassette with the UNIVERSES album
LORENZO MUSIC on the b-side (out of print). |
